W5BXJ Repeater Update 03/14/03:
03/11/03 Work Party:
Phil (N8CQR) and Bill (W5BXJ) got permanent messenger pole in the ground and cemented in. Link antennas were rerouted and the links were tested.
03/08/03 Work Party:
Back on Top!
Bill (W5BXJ), Bailey (K5TML), David (KI5RA), James (KF5QT), Tommy, Jonathan (KD5RTI), Phil (N8CQR) and John (W5AR) put in a long, long day putting us back on top! Preparations were made for feeding and attaching the permanent feedline runs. Special thanks to Serena (WA5RJF) for the sandwiches or we would have all collapsed!!

01/18/03 Work Party:
Bill (W5BXJ), James (KF5QT), JD (KA5ZBR), John (KD5RQM), and John (W5AR) worked at the repeater site to prepare for installation of the hardline with new permanent supports and at Bill's house preparing the pole. John (KD5RQM) performed some micro-surgery maintenance on the GE amp blower which had become noisy. John (W5AR) installed our talking PC announcement system. Bill (W5BXJ) and James (KF5QT) procured a large drill bit needed for the mounting holes in the hardline support pole and drilled all needed holes. JD (KA5ZBR) finished up welding on antenna connection ports and feedline leader attachment points for the support pole. Bill (W5BXJ) and John (W5AR) made a road trip to pick up feedline.

01/17/03 Work Party:
David (KI5RA) used his telescoping trailer to pick up the hardline support pole provided by Bill (W5BXJ). Bill (W5BXJ) and David (KI5RA) loaded the pole and delivered it for welding by JD (KA5ZBR).
01/11/03 Work Party:
Bailey (K5TML), David (KI5RA), Eddie (KA5RRK), John (W5AR), and Pick (AC5V) worked to clean out battery box, repair corrosion on battery bars and connections, and check individual cells and charging voltages. Several connections were badly corroded. Pick (AC5V) was brave enough to work with a bad cold and received our corrosion buster award for his fine work cleaning up the bars and fuses that were badly corroded! David (KI5RA) built a new connection bar (better than the original!) from some copper pipe supplied by Eddie (KA5RRK). Bailey (K5TML) supplied a much needed lug to repair the charging circuit to the spare batteries. Unfortunately, John (W5AR) forgot his camera that day!!!

As many of you know, our antenna support of many years is no longer standing. The old water tank was demolished by the city some time ago. Unfortunately, we lost hardline and one antenna in this process.
We are in process of moving to the new tower. We are having to be extremely careful and have everything approved due to some recent problems experienced by the city with antennas on it's tanks (but not related to HSCAREN). We are currently running on an IsoPole antenna beneath the water tower feed with RG213 grade coax.
We should be back on the air soon with newly run hardline to our high gain antenna on top of the new tank and a super new 440 MHz repeater!
